Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Minister Winston Dookeran is leading a delegation this week to Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting.

Dookeran is joining 52 heads of government in Colombo to discuss the theme of “Growth with Equity: Inclusive Development.” The world leaders will also focus on the problems of “increasing poverty and marginalization.”

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, of “extreme importance” to Trinidad and the members of CARICOM in particular is the issue of climate change financing, which will be reviewed by the heads of government.

Other issues of concern include debt sustainability and development financing, the government said.

Dr Roodal Moonilal will act as Foreign Minister during Dookeran’s absence.
