US Virgin Islands Governor John de Jongh recently held talks with Carnival Corporation CEO Arnold Donald and other officials on the state of the USVI market.

The discussions covered, upcoming season traffic, infrastructure improvements, recent investments in on-shore activities and planned improvements in downtown Charlotte Amalie and Fort Christian, according to a release from the Governor’s office.

Fort Christian is itself in the process of being restored.

The two sides additionally discussed port of call opportunities in St Croix.

Donald was joined by Marie McKenzie, vice president of development and operations, Giora Israel, senior vice president for Global Port and Destination Development and David Candib, vice president of development and operations at Carnival.

Donald was named CEO of Carnival Corporation in June, succeeding longtime CEO and current Chairman Micky Arison, who had served in the role since 1979.
