It’s a longer distance than Jamaica tends to be known for in the sprinting world, but Jamaica managed to secure a well-deserved silver medal on Friday in the men’s 4×400 relay at the World Championships.

Jamaica’s dominance has traditionally come in shorter distances like the 100M and 200M, but a squad led by anchor Javon Francis, finished in 2:59.88, a season-best time for the Jamaicans.

That was not enough for the gold, however, which was secured by a 2:58.71 time by the United States — the fastest of any group this year.

Coming in third was host country Russia, which finished in 2:59.90, also a season-best time.

Trinidad and Tobago finished sixth, coming in at 3:01.74.
