Caribbean Airlines Is Now Flying This Daily Nonstop Route from Florida to Montego Bay, Jamaica

By: Alexander Britell - March 20, 2025 - 5:36 pm

The jerk chicken at Scotchie’s. The cocktails at Lester’s Bar. The golf at Half Moon, the Caribbean Augusta. The beach scene at Doctor’s Cave. There are quite a few reasons why Montego Bay is Jamaica’s tourism hotspot, and the north-coast hotspot just got even easier to fly to.

Caribbean Airlines has officially relaunched a crucial route between Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new flights are operating every day of the week, totaling what the regional carrier says is 1,323 seats every week to Montego Bay.

It’s been more than six years since Caribbean Airlines abruptly cut the service, and the calls to bring it back had been growing.

The nonstop flight’s return was “driven by the needs of our passengers,” Caribbean Airlines CEO Garvin Madera told Caribbean Journal in a statement.

Now, there’s a major new connection for travelers in South Florida looking to fly to Mobay, as locals call it.

It’s also a boost for Jamaica, which got off to a slow tourism start so far in 2025 amid continued competition from destinations like The Bahamas, Antigua and the US Virgin Islands, among others.

The nonstop flight has prices as low as $316 roundtrip right now, according to Google Flights data.

Are you planning a vacation to Montego Bay? The area’s best hotel is without question the Half Moon resort, particularly its Eclipse at Half Moon resort-within-a-resort, which we’ve loved in our recent stays at the property. The hotel has rooms for $676 per night right now; that gets you a room in the lovely Founders Cove section of the resort, set on a superb stretch of white-sand beach. Most of the rooms in Founders Cove are what we like to call “toes in the sand,” meaning you walk right out from your door to the beach.

If you’re coming with a larger group, the Rose Hall Villas are an excellent choice, particularly the property’s legacy villas, which are six-bedroom and bigger villas, with grand Caribbean design, butlers, chefs and housekeepers. Rates for those villas start at around $3,410 in the high season. We’ve stayed several times in the villas, and in our view it’s one of the most unforgettable vacation experiences in Montego Bay and Jamaica at large.
