Caribbean Room With a View: Ian Fleming’s Villa at Goldeneye in Jamaica

By: - April 12th, 2013

THIS DESK was where James Bond began. At this desk, Ian Fleming wrote all 14 of the novels about the world’s most famous spy.

Today, the grounds of the 22-room Goldeneye (which proved the namesake for the 1995 Pierce Brosnan film), are an Island Outpost resort, located on Oracabessa Bay, about 20 minutes outside of Ocho Rios.

And now anyone can channel Fleming and stay in his villa.

Fleming’s original three-bedroom home, which includes a private swimming pool, a sunken garden and two poolside cottages, still retains his original writing desks.

(The property has not just provided inspiration for Fleming, however — Sting’s “Every Breath You Take” was also written during a stay at the Fleming Villa.)

It’s also fully stocked with Blackwell Rum, the newly-launched rum brand of Island Outpost Founder Chris Blackwell, and a sound system with music produced by Blackwell’s Island Records and Palm Pictures.

To boot, the villa also has direct access to the private “Fleming Beach.”

And appropriately, the master suite is called the “007 Bedroom.”

Enjoy the view.
