JetBlue Is Expanding Service from Fort Lauderdale to Cancun
JetBlue is ramping up its service to Cancun this winter, adding more flights from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport as demand for Caribbean and Mexican beach destinations continues to surge.
Beginning Dec. 5, 2025, the airline will increase its Fort Lauderdale–Cancun schedule to three daily flights, giving travelers more flexibility and choice on one of the most popular leisure routes in the region. The increased frequencies are timed to capture the busy holiday and winter travel season, when South Florida travelers flock to the Mexican Caribbean for quick getaways.
The decision highlights Cancun’s importance within JetBlue’s broader Caribbean and Latin American network. Over the past decade, Cancun has become a cornerstone of JetBlue’s leisure strategy, attracting strong year-round demand from both U.S. and international travelers. In addition to Fort Lauderdale, JetBlue already operates flights to Cancun from New York’s JFK, Boston Logan, Orlando International, and Los Angeles International, connecting the destination to major population centers across the East Coast and beyond.
This expansion from Fort Lauderdale not only increases capacity but also strengthens JetBlue’s position at a key Florida hub, where the carrier has been steadily growing both domestic and international service. Fort Lauderdale has become one of JetBlue’s most strategically important gateways for flights to Latin America and the Caribbean, thanks to its proximity to key leisure markets and its role as a connecting point for travelers heading south.
Cancun remains one of the most visited destinations in the hemisphere, with its mix of all-inclusive resorts, cultural heritage, and easy air access from the U.S. making it a perennial favorite. JetBlue’s continued investment in the route underscores how central the destination has become to American leisure travel patterns, especially for sun-seekers in Florida and the Northeast.
With the new schedule, JetBlue is positioning itself to capture a growing share of the strong transborder leisure market, while providing travelers with more convenient, affordable ways to reach Mexico’s Caribbean coast.
Fort Lauderdale-Cancun flights are about $297 roundtrip right now, according to Google Flights.
