Curaçao Keeps Up Summer Tourism Growth

Curacao: year-round destination. Curaçao’s tourism numbers kept moving upward in August, with the island reporting a 4 percent increase in stayover arrivals compared to the same month last year. A total of 60,690 visitors came to the island, according to newly released data, pointing to another strong summer for the Dutch Caribbean island.

The story of August was the strength of the Americas. South America led the way with a 17 percent jump in arrivals, while North America posted a 7 percent gain. Europe and the Caribbean, on the other hand, saw slight pullbacks of 5 and 7 percent, respectively. Even so, Europe remained Curaçao’s largest source region, with 23,511 visitors, followed by North America with 17,061.

Visitors stayed an average of 8.2 nights on the island in August.

The Netherlands once again delivered the largest single source of travelers, sending 19,573 visitors to Curaçao. That represented a 7 percent decline from last year, though Dutch visitors continued to stay the longest, averaging nearly 12 nights.

The U.S. market continued its steady climb, with 15,773 visitors in August — a 7 percent year-over-year increase. American travelers largely favored resort hotels, with seven in ten choosing that option.

Colombia, meanwhile, was the fastest-growing of the top three markets, up 17 percent to 4,991 visitors.

Curaçao has welcomed more than 1.1 million visitors so far this year. That includes over half a million stayover arrivals and nearly 560,000 cruise passengers, a combined 7 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

The August totals also stood out on their own, with overall arrivals up 23 percent compared to last year — a sign that Curaçao’s appeal continues to grow across markets.
