Every Traveler to St Maarten Needs to Fill Out This Form
You’re landing in Sint Maarten soon. But before the beach bars, the shopping and the planes gliding just overhead, there’s one essential thing every traveler needs to do.
It happens before you even board your plane. Sint Maarten now requires all travelers to complete an online immigration process — a digital embarkation/disembarkation (ED) form that acts as your official permission to enter the island. You can’t check in for your flight without it.
Here’s the Form
The form lives at entry.sx, and you’ll need to submit it before heading to the airport. It’s not just a formality. This digital clearance is mandatory for everyone, including kids, and without it, you won’t get past check-in. Travelers are encouraged to fill it out as early as seven days before their trip. If your travel plans change — say, a flight delay or a different hotel — you’re expected to update the form with the new information.
What does it ask for?
Just the basics: your passport information, where you’re staying, and how long you’re staying. Families traveling together can fill out one group form, but everyone needs to be individually listed. Once you’ve submitted it, you’ll get a confirmation — either print it out or save the QR code on your phone. You’ll show it upon arrival at Princess Juliana International Airport, where Sint Maarten’s new arrival process is designed to streamline entry and reduce wait times.
You’ll also want to double-check that your passport is valid for the entire length of your stay — and ideally longer. U.S. citizens don’t need a visa and can stay up to six months. Most travelers from Europe, Canada, the UK and Latin America can enter visa-free for up to 90 days. If you hold a valid U.S. visa or a Schengen visa, you may be exempt from requiring a separate Sint Maarten visa. And if you’re arriving from a country with yellow fever risk, a vaccination certificate may be required, though this is uncommon for most U.S.-based visitors.
What Else You Need to Know
Beyond the digital paperwork, Sint Maarten’s entry process also includes a few traditional checks. Travelers should be prepared to show proof of accommodations and a return or onward ticket. Immigration officers may also ask for proof of funds or a credit card that demonstrates your ability to support yourself during your stay. It’s rare — but it happens.
Once you land, you’ll notice the upgrades right away. The newly redesigned arrival area at Princess Juliana has improved passenger flow, helping to speed up the process. If you’re continuing on to Saint Martin on the French side, there’s no physical border — you’re free to move between the Dutch and French sides of the island without any formalities.
But none of that happens if you skip the digital form. Entry.sx is your key to the Caribbean. Don’t fly without it.
