Marriott Is Opening a New “Unscripted” Punta Cana All-Inclusive With Sunrise Yoga, Beach Cabanas and a Speakeasy

You start your day with yoga by the sand. Then it’s a choice: beach cabana? Infinity pool? Maybe a trip to the food hall. There’s even a speakeasy. This is Marriott’s new “unscripted” all-inclusive, and it’s the most anticipated new resort in Punta Cana: the first-ever W all-inclusive.

The new Punta Cana resort (it’s set in Uvero Alto), which opens its doors in June, is a very different kind of all-inclusive option in Punta Cana: it’s an energetic, adults-only, dare we say hip all-inclusive, with all of the things you love about the W brand shaped into an all-inclusive format.

The new W in Punta Cana is set to welcome guests on June 15, according to Marriott’s website.

Then there are the other W Punta Canasignatures: the Fit GYM, an Away spa with 10 treatment rooms (including a hydrotherapy circuit), an infinity pool and a WET deck lounge and bar scene.

In all, you’ll get 13 different food and beverage concepts, including the one that has us most excited: a speakeasy called 33 1/3.

Another compelling concept? Trade Market, the resort’s food hall-style buffet, which is a gauntlet of “action stations” serving fare from all over. There’s even a street food-style noodle bar (and yes, of course, there’s a Living Room bar. This is a W, after all).

Yes, there is a speakeasy at an all-inclusive.

Yes, there will even be a version of W’s famous “Whatever/Whenever” button, with guests staying in the resort’s W Suites, Supreme Suites and Oasis Suites getting access to that service, which basically provides for the provision of just about any concierge request.

If you’re not staying in those rooms, fear not: there is a 24-7 in-room dining menu on offer for whatever cravings hit you at 12am.

The is all not without precedent. SLS Hotels, another brand famous for its boutique-style, cool, creative vibe, opened its own first-ever all-inclusive in Playa Mujeres in the Mexican Caribbean last year (although it actually went all the way to a family-friendly resort).

Marriott has been making a big push to expand in all-inclusive (focused in the Caribbean, with plans for even more hotels this year), and doing that with the W brand makes a lot of sense, particularly as the all-inclusive segment is starting to skew younger.

It’s one of the most famous components of the W brand: the Living Room.

The demand for all-inclusive vacations has never been greater, and that means hotels have to keep innovating – including taking popular brands and distilling them into all-inclusives, where the only difference from the normal WET deck is that you never have to reach for your wallet.

Clearly, the interest is there for all-inclusive versions of these brands — and we’re here for it.

So what about prices?

Opening rates start as low as $835 in the first week.

Flying to Punta Cana in June? Google Flights has a range of options, including Spirit flights from South Florida for $345 nonstop and JetBlue from Fort Lauderdale with roundtrips at $458. Out of New York, it’s about $509 roundtrip on JetBlue.
