The Caribbean’s Best Airport Lounge Is in Montego Bay, Jamaica

By: Alexander Britell - May 25, 2024 - 8:10 pm

Travelers are flocking to Jamaica, something that’s been a trend since the island’s tourism reopening during the pandemic. It’s easy to see why: the beaches, the fantastic resorts, the culture.

But if you’ve been to Jamaica, particularly Montego Bay, you know that all those travelers can make the airport experience, well, not always very quick or easy.

But there’s a solution: Club Mobay.

It’s the brainchild of Jamaican company VIP Attractions, which has turned the arrival and departure experience in Jamaica into an art form.

There’s a full bar.

With clubs in Montego Bay (and Kingston), you can turn a large airport into your own private club for a few hours.

But it’s not just the lounge: the best way experience Montego Bay’s airport is by booking Club Mobay’s arrival service. That means right after you leave the plane, a dedicated attendant will find you and whisk you through the airport, including your own priority lane at immigration. The latter, if you’ve been to Montego Bay, is heaven-sent – shaving significant time — sometimes an hour — off of your arrival. That means more time on the beach, not in an immigration line.

The attendant — in my case it was the extraordinarily friendly Attila, accompanies you as you wait for your bags, helps you with your luggage and escorts you all the way through customs and, finally, to your mode of transport.

In short, it’s a service that dramatically reshapes the arrival in Jamaica and — at just $50 per adult — a bargain.

And then there’s the departure service. If you book Club Mobay, you get your own priority line through security (most welcome), and then access to two different lounges in the recently-revamped Sangster airport.

It’s a total of 11,000 square feet of club space, with an excellent buffet, an open bar, a kids’ club and just about everything you could ask for in an airport lounge.

Even better? The lounge has its own PA to announce when all flights are boarding — meaning you won’t have to worry about missing your trip home — though with all these comforts you may actually think about it.

It’s a standard-setting airport experience — and easily the best airport lounge in the Caribbean right now.

If you want departure and arrival service, you can purchase a bundle costing $85 per adult and $48 per child. Otherwise, departures service is $35 per adult, $23 per child. (It’s all free for infants under 2).
