A New Way to Fly From Europe to the Dominican Republic

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - February 14, 2024

It’s no secret that the vast majority of travelers to the Dominican Republic come from the United States and Canada, mostly drawn by the country’s overwhelming number of large all-inclusive resorts.

It’s a formula for success that has shown no signs of slowing down — the Dominican Republic was the most-visited country in the entire Caribbean last year by a wide margin, with a record-breaking total of arrivals for the destination.

As the country looks to keep growing its arrivals, though, it will need to tap into other markets — most notably Europe, which will soon have another connection to the Dominican Republic this summer.

Low-cost transatlantic carrier Air Europa is adding a new nonstop route between Madrid and Santiago de los Caballeros, a destination in the Dominican Republic that is growing in its own right.

Madrid-Santiago flights will be operating once weekly, with service on Thursdays.

The route will be operating seasonally through June 27, according to the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism.

Air Europa already flies to two other destinations in the Dominican Republic: Punta Cana and Santo Domingo.
