Carnival Cruise Line Has a New Flagship for the Caribbean

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 2, 2024

Carnival Cruise Line has debuted its new flagship, the highly-anticipated Carnival Jubilee.

Jubilee has begun sailings out of the Port of Galveston, Texas, with a strong Caribbean season ahead.

The debut comes as Galveston Wharves’ Terminal 25 recently underwent a $53 million enhancement project to prepare for Jubilee’s arrival.

“This is the start of a new era for us here in Galveston,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Jubilee is sailing week-long cruises year round, with stops in destinations like Mahogany Bay, Costa Maya and the island of Cozumel off the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

The ship includes some firsts for Carnival, including the newest eatery by the company’s “chief culinary officer,” Emeril Lagasse: Emeril’s Bistro 717, a seafood-focused restaurant.

There’s also a “boardwalk” on the ship with several eateries ranging from Chef Rudi Sodamin’s “Rudi’s Seagrill” to the popular Carnival eatery Cucina del Capitano.

That’s along with Carnival signatures like Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken and Guy Fieri’s dueling eateries: Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse and Brewhouse and Guy’s Burger Joint.

Notably, Jubilee will be the first ship in North America to offer 5G capability, joined by enhanced satellite internet options.

The new ship “expands our capacity – allowing us to deliver the quintessential Carnival fun to more people sailing from Texas,” Duffy said.
