The Cayman Islands’ Seven Mile Beach Has a Brand-New Resort

By: Alexander Britell - May 8, 2024

A rooftop lounge. A unique food-hall concept. Copious local art. The Cayman Islands has a brand new hotel that just opened its doors this week.

But the biggest amenity is still Seven Mile Beach, famous for its impossibly white sand, breathtakingly clear water and unmatched vibe.

This is the Hotel Indigo, the first-ever Hotel Indigo in the Caribbean region and the newest addition to Grand Cayman’s legendary stretch of sand. The 288-room hotel, which also boasts 38 suites, is a “design-forward” hotel with a host of interesting touches across the property.

So what do you need to know?

It’s the second IHG-portfolio hotel in Grand Cayman, joining one of the destination’s best hotels: the Kimpton Seafire, which is located right next door.

The food is a big story, too, anchored by a cool food-hall concept that includes cuisine from California-style to Asian inspirations and even an exhibition kitchen called Rasa.

And then there is the rooftop lounge, Pom Pom, which is set on the ninth floor and offers up a mix of Latin-fusion food and regular DJ sets.

The pools are a major gathering place here.

The amenities include a pair of infinity pools, beachside service on the hotel’s beach club-style enclave on nearby Seven Mile Beach, and a 24-hour fitness center, among others.

The design, led by New Orleans’ Farouki Farouk, is all about cool colors and natural landscapes, with a concerted effort to honor Cayman’s past and present.

The rooms include some new options: a family suite comes with both king and bunk beds; and a presidential suite option comes with an outdoor entrainment deck with ocean views.

What will it cost you?

A standard king room is averaging less than $500 per night, depending on your length of stay. That doesn’t include a $60 per day amenity fee per night and a 12 percent service charge.
