The Newest Luxury All-Inclusive in Isla Mujeres Is Now Open

By: Alexander Britell - May 26, 2023

Tiny Isla Mujeres is a magnet for travelers looking for another side of the western Caribbean, one far from the mega resorts of Cancun and the sprawling resort complexes of the Riviera Maya. The island has always had a resort portfolio on the smaller side, with a focus on (mostly) boutique resorts.

The moment you arrive on the island by boat, you know you’re in a very different corner of the Mexican Caribbean. Now the island has a major new addition: the Impression by Secrets Isla Mujeres, a new high-end all-inclusive that marries the amenities of larger resorts with the island’s cherished, intimate feel.

The 125-room adults-only resort, set right on the water on the southwestern coast of the island, officially welcomed its first guests this week.

The property has surprisingly vast food and beverage program for a 125-room property; that includes 16 different concepts, including eight eateries featuring everything from the international-cuisine La Vista to the Mediterranean-focused Spezia.

The wellness offering is anchored by a signature Secrets Spa, while the property is also home to waterspouts, an oceanfront hot tub, tiered infinity pools and several rooftop pools, too.

In keeping with the growing trend toward “education” in all-inclusives, the Impression by Secrets has mixology classes, dance lessons, coffee samplings and, of course, a range of tequila and mezcal tastings. There’s even an al fresco cinema right on the water, replete with torch-lit cabanas and overwater hammocks.

All of the 125 suites at the resort come with butler service, and every room has 24-hour in-room dining, twice-daily-stocked mini bars, and even the option for personal fitness equipment right in the comfort of your room.

All of the 125 rooms at the resort are suites, some with outdoor hot tubs on the balcony.

The suites themselves come in a variety of configurations: double and king junior suites all the way up to signature suites with outdoor hot tub and even the presidential suite, which has its own private swim-out pool.

If you’re splurging, you can get bespoke boat service from mainland Cancun and arrive right at the dock of the hotel in what is instantly one of the island’s most glamorous arrivals.

The resort is part of the AMR Collection, itself part of Hyatt’s rapidly-expanding Inclusive Collection, a portfolio of all-inclusive resorts that has become one of the leading all-inclusive collections in the wider Caribbean Basin.

As Hyatt describes it, the resort is “a boutique haven in one of the most exclusive Caribbean destinations, where privacy abounds, personal needs are anticipated, and the highest levels of service are customary.”

It’s a stunning new addition to the island’s small but robust luxury collection, one headlined by the Zoetry Villa Rolandi, a fellow AMR Collection resort, and the renowned Coco B Isla, a collection of luxury hotels and villas on the island.
