Travel to This Caribbean Island Is Surging

Travel to the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire continues to surge so far in 2023. 

Bonaire reported 15,811 stay over visitors in February, a 15.4 percent increase over the same period in the record-breaking year of 2019. 

That included 7,882 visitors from The Netherlands and another 3,972 visitors from the United States, with 49 percent and 25 percent growth from those markets, respectively. 

American visitors are coming mostly from New York and Florida, along with states like California and Massachusetts, among others. 

Visitors from the United States stayed an average of seven nights on the island, while those from The Netherlands stayed an average of 14 nights, according to the report from Tourism Corporation Bonaire. 

On the cruise side, Bonaire welcomed 28 cruise ships carrying a total of 70,256 passengers. 

The destination is projecting a sizzling year for tourism this year. 

That should continue over the summer, kicked off by they island’s popular Bonaire Rum Week in June.
