Aruba has moved past the recovery phase of its tourism rebound, with arrival numbers setting all-time records.

The Dutch Caribbean island has seen what officials are calling a “surge” in visitors arrivals in 2022, one that has “not only approached but surpassed 2019 levels.”

That included a very strong summer period that saw every month eclipse its pre-pandemic highs.

“This year, Aruba has been experiencing a strong tourism recovery, with new and returning visitors creating a surge in visitation that surpasses pre-pandemic levels,” said Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. “With Aruba’s Path Forward strategy, we took a nimble approach that leaned into technology as we eased entry requirements.”

The surge in large part began in April, just after Aruba made the decision to lift all of its testing requirements for travelers, following the lead of several of its Dutch Caribbean neighbor.

At the time, it was one of the first Caribbean destinations to do so.

“We are excited to help more travelers discover the One Happy Island in 2023 as we see continued visitation growth.” Croes said.
