It's another new adults-only option in greater Punta Cana.

Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is planning a March debut, bringing an adults-only option with swim-out suites, a beachfront infinity pool and a hidden speakeasy to Playa Macao.

Secrets Macao Beach Punta Cana is planning to open in March 2027, Caribbean Journal has learned. The new adults-only, all-inclusive resort will bring ocean-facing suites, three pools and a Preferred Club with its own rooftop bar to Playa Macao in the Dominican Republic.

The March opening puts another new option on the calendar for travelers considering a late-winter or spring vacation in Punta Cana. We previously reported an April 1 reservation start; the resort is now targeting a debut the month before, according to Hyatt’s booking platform.

A Macao Beach Address

The setting is the central draw: Playa Macao, on the northern side of the greater Punta Cana resort area. Hyatt’s plans put the beach at the center of the experience, with surfing among the advertised outdoor activities and a beachfront infinity pool facing the water.

That gives you a useful starting point when comparing this property with other all-inclusive resorts. If your ideal vacation includes time watching the surf, an ocean-facing terrace and the option of an excursion into the nearby jungle landscape, those are all part of the resort’s planned offering.

Suites and the Preferred Club

Accommodations will include private balconies or terraces, with swim-up and swim-out options among the Preferred Club choices. The distinction is worth checking carefully when you select a room: access to the club’s additional spaces comes with the appropriate accommodation category.

Those extras include a private rooftop bar, a dedicated beach area, a club pool and a lounge serving continental breakfast, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, desserts and premium liquors. Hyatt also lists personal concierge service, upgraded minibars and bath amenities, breakfast and lunch at Olio, and exclusive access to Rosewater.

If you expect to spend much of your vacation beside the pool or on your terrace, the specific suite location and water access will be important parts of the decision.

Dining Beyond the Standard Lineup

The resort’s dining plans include Italian, Asian and local farm-to-table cuisine, along with a Dominican heritage Chocolatería and a hidden speakeasy. The latter two give you something specific to seek out beyond the usual poolside drinks and evening dinner rotation.

The stay will follow Secrets’ Unlimited-Luxury model, including reservation-free à la carte dining, international and domestic top-shelf spirits, pool and beach waiter service, 24-hour room service and a minibar refreshed daily.

The addition follows the brand’s expansion elsewhere in the country, including Secrets Playa Esmeralda in Miches. Macao adds another beach address to that growing Dominican Republic portfolio.

Pools, Spa and Evening Plans

Three pools are planned: the beachfront infinity pool, a relaxation pool and the Preferred Club pool, complemented by two outdoor hot tubs. The spa will offer a hydrotherapy circuit and treatment cabins with private outdoor patios, while the fitness center is slated to operate around the clock.

Evenings will include shows at an open-air theater, live entertainment and theme parties. You’ll have several ways to spend the day, from the beach and pools to wellness appointments and guided outdoor experiences.

What to Check Before Booking

If you’re considering a March stay, check your exact arrival dates directly with the resort before purchasing flights. Confirm which restaurants, pools and Preferred Club facilities are scheduled to be available during your visit, along with the cancellation terms for your reservation.
