BermudAir’s New Nonstop Flights From Fort Lauderdale to Belize Start Oct. 26
The new service will run three times each week, giving South Florida travelers another nonstop option to Belize.
Belize’s beaches, reefs and rainforests are getting another nonstop connection from South Florida this fall.
BermudAir is set to launch its new nonstop service between Fort Lauderdale and Belize City on Oct. 26, with flights operating three times each week, according to the carrier’s newly published schedule.
The flights will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, departing Fort Lauderdale at 11 a.m. and arriving in Belize at 11:30 a.m. local time. The flight takes about two and a half hours.
It’s the first of five new U.S.-Belize routes Caribbean Journal reported on this summer, part of a significant expansion by BermudAir into the Caribbean and Central America.
The New Fort Lauderdale-Belize Schedule
The southbound flight, BermudAir Flight 425, is scheduled to operate on an Embraer E190, with both economy and business-class seating.
The return flight leaves Belize City at 12:30 p.m. on the same three days, giving travelers a straightforward new option between South Florida and Belize.
The timing is particularly convenient for travelers continuing beyond Belize City. From the international airport, short domestic flights connect to San Pedro, Placencia and other destinations around the country.
For travelers headed to Ambergris Caye, for example, the flight from Belize City to San Pedro takes about 15 minutes.
Belize’s Airlift Is Growing
The Oct. 26 launch comes amid a broader expansion of air service to Belize.
BermudAir is also adding nonstop flights from Boston, Raleigh-Durham, Orlando Sanford and St. Petersburg-Clearwater, with those routes beginning later in the year.
Belize has been steadily adding connections from North America, including a new winter route from Winnipeg on WestJet.
A Gateway to the Reef and the Jungle
The appeal is the range of experiences within a relatively compact destination.
Travelers can land in Belize City and head straight for the reef and the beach on Ambergris Caye or Caye Caulker; continue south toward Placencia and Hopkins; or travel west into the Cayo District for Maya sites, caves, rivers and jungle lodges.
The new Fort Lauderdale service puts all of that within a nonstop flight of roughly two and a half hours from South Florida.
