Avianca Is Bringing Back Flights Between Colombia and Venezuela
Avianca is restarting daily nonstop service between Bogotá, Colombia and Caracas, Venezuela, restoring one of the most important air links in northern South America as Venezuela begins to reopen its airspace to travel.
The news comes after American Airlines recently announced plans to relaunch service between the United States and Venezuela.
The airline said it will resume direct flights between Colombia’s capital and Venezuela’s capital beginning Feb. 12, 2026, with daily service.
It’s a meaningful return for a route that matters for both leisure travel and business movement, and it comes as airlines continue to recalibrate operations in and out of Venezuela.
Avianca: Safety Review Came First
In announcing the relaunch, Avianca said the decision followed a “comprehensive evaluation” of operational conditions and aviation safety, conducted in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Avianca has been flying to Venezuela for more than six decades, and the carrier said safety remains its top operational priority.
Why It Matters
For travelers, the route is a big deal for connectivity: Bogotá remains one of the most important hubs in Latin America, with onward links to cities across the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
A daily nonstop flight between Bogotá and Caracas also makes it easier to build multi-stop itineraries — whether you’re traveling for family, business, or pairing Venezuela with another destination via Colombia.
Avianca said the restored route is also designed to support binational tourism and trade, strengthening movement between the two countries.
