Royal Caribbean’s Newest Ship, Legend of the Seas, Is Coming Next Year
Royal Caribbean has lifted the curtain on its newest Icon Class vacation. Legend of the Seas, the third in the cruise giant’s new lineup, is set to debut in Europe in Aug. 2026 before launching Caribbean sailings out of Fort Lauderdale that November — and just had its float out in Europe.
The new ship is the continuation of the Icon legacy that redefined the line’s offerings. And for travelers, it means more ways to experience the thrill, the chill, and the unmatched combination of escapes of a Royal cruise.
Europe First, Then the Caribbean
The first voyages of Legend of the Seas will be summer sailings in the Western Mediterranean, homeporting in Barcelona and visiting France, Italy and Spain. From sun-soaked coastlines to world-class cities, the itineraries are designed for travelers who want both adventure and elegance.
Then comes the grand Caribbean debut: a year-round schedule beginning Nov. 2026, including 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries. Every sailing includes a stop at Royal Caribbean’s award-winning private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, alongside destinations like Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curacao; and Falmouth, Jamaica.
Eight Neighborhoods, Endless Choices
Like her sister ships Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, the new Legend is built around eight neighborhoods, each with its own personality. Families can head to Surfside, a community designed for young travelers, or stay in the three-story Ultimate Family Townhouse. Adults can slip away to the Hideaway, home to a suspended infinity pool with ocean views.
The culinary offering? More than 40 restaurants and bars to explore. Thrill-seekers can conquer the tallest slides at sea inside Category 6, the largest waterpark on the ocean, or test their nerves on Crown’s Edge, a part-rope course, part-skywalk, part-thrill ride that juts out over the water. For those who prefer to relax, there will be seven pools, including the largest at sea, Royal Bay, and the swim-up bar Swim & Tonic.
A Legend Built for the Future
Currently under construction in Turku, Finland, Legend of the Seas will also be Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas. With advanced environmental systems, including waste heat recovery and shore power connection, the ship marks another step in Royal Caribbean Group’s goal of achieving a net-zero cruise ship by 2035 — and part of a broader trend toward sustainability in the industry.
Prices on Legend
You can find cruises in fall 2026 for as little as $1,299 per person for a three-nighter, according to Royal’s website. That includes a stop at CocoCay.
You can also find a six-night trip to stops like CocoCay, Falmouth and Haiti, for $1,358 per person next November.
