Royal Caribbean Just Revealed the First Look at Its New Perfect Day Destination in Mexico, Including the World’s Longest Lazy River
Royal Caribbean International has revealed new details about its forthcoming private destination, Perfect Day at Mexico. The project is currently under development in the coastal town of Mahahual, located on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Set to debut in 2027, the destination will be exclusive to guests sailing on Royal Caribbean cruises departing from Florida and Texas.
The new destination will feature multiple zones built for distinct experiences. At the heart of the site is Loco Playa, where travelers will find the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, an expansive beach area, and live entertainment. A major draw will be Loco Waterpark, including theJaguar’s Throne, a 170-foot-long waterslide. The park will also introduce the world’s first waterslide shaped like a sombrero.
Perfect Day at Mexico will include an extended mile-long lazy river—the longest in the world—along with 24 bars.

The destination will also offer Splashaway Bay, Royal Caribbean’s aquatic play area for children, and a wave pool designed to simulate ocean surf. The Splashaway Bay here will be the biggest of any at a Royal destination.
Several private poolside and beachside cabanas will be available for daily rental. The entire experience is designed to be a single-day port of call as part of select itineraries.
According to the company, Perfect Day at Mexico is intended to build on the success of Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private destination in The Bahamas.
Both destinations are part of the cruise line’s growing collection of private destinations aimed at enhancing onshore experiences through fully controlled private environments. The project is expected to significantly boost tourism traffic to the Costa Maya region.
The reveal comes as Royal Caribbean is also adding new “beach club” destinations, including the soon-to-open Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island in The Bahamas.
Perfect Day at Mexico will be exclusively open to Royal Caribbean guests and will not be accessible to travelers on other cruise lines or the general public. The company has not yet announced exact launch dates or pricing for cabana rentals and excursions but has stated the destination will open to guests in 2027.
