It was another strong year for Puerto Rico’s main air hub in 2024, according to newly-released data from ASUR, which manages the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport.

San Juan’s primary airport reported passenger traffic of 3.19 million in the fourth quarter, up from 2.92 million in the last quarter of 2023.

That represented a 9.6 percent increase.

For Puerto Rico, the best sign was the small but growing international segment: international traffic grew by 28.9 percent in the fourth quarter, compared to a 7.3 percent increase for domestic traffic (that’s largely traffic between the US mainland and the island of Puerto Rico).

Puerto Rico has seen a sustained tourism boom in the post-pandemic period, driven by affordable, abundant airlift and relatively cheap hotel rates across the island.

Are you flying to Puerto Rico right now? You can find fares as low as $231 from Miami to San Juan right now on American, according to Google Flights. From New York, it’s even lower: $211 roundtrip on JetBlue.
