Marriott Just Opened a New Adults-Only All-Inclusive Resort in the Dominican Republic’s Under-the-Radar Destination
It’s not Punta Cana. It’s not Puerto Plata or Santo Domingo. In fact, it’s one of the hottest Caribbean destinations you’ve never heard of: the beach-filled Miches in the Dominican Republic, an area on Samana Bay that has quietly become one of the region’s centers for new hotel development.
Now, the Caribbean’s fastest-growing all-inclusive brand is officially in the market: Marriott, which just debuted its new Sunrise Miches Beach Resort.
The newest All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy is about an hour away from Punta Cana, with just under 400 rooms,
So what else do you need to know about it?
The property, a transformation of the former Temptation resort in Miches. It’s home to two pools, a spa, a fitness center and a mix of colorful, sleekly designed rooms, including a collection of swim-up rooms. (We almost always recommend splurging for the swim-up option — it’s always worth it, no matter where your’e staying).
What about dining?
There are five dining concepts, from the Asian-inspired Spices to an International buffet called Coral Kitchen and a cafe called the Sweet Corner.
But the biggest star is without question the beach, set between mountains, palm trees and turquoise, it’s one of the most stunning stretches of sand in a country that’s filled with beautiful beaches.
It’s the second major opening in a month for Marriott’s all-inclusive collection, the just-debuted Almare on Isla Mujeres.
Marriott now has eight total all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic right now, with another, the W Punta Cana, also on the way.
Miches itself continues to see new hotel growth, from the Club Med that started off the area’s growth back in 2019 to a soon-to-debut Hilton resort.
So what does it cost?
As part of its opening, the new Sunrise Miches has special rates starting at $339 per night for a standard king room with a garden view. For a swim-up “grand duplex,” the prices goes up to $1,199 per night.
A “grand junior” might be the best value, with rates at $519 and amenities including a large jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room.
