There’s a New Hotel on One of the Best Beaches in the British Virgin Islands

The centuries-old still at Callwood. Sunday lunch at Bananas. The view at the Paradise Club.

For Caribbean aficionados, Cane Garden Bay in Tortola is one of those special beaches — the ones with their own box to check on every traveler’s bucket list.

The green hills, the white sand, the ultra-calm waves. If you know it, you get it. If you haven’t been lucky enough to experience it, well, there’s a new way.

This signature beach now has a new hotel — thanks to a rebranding of the former Quito’s Luxury Inn.

The 21-suite hotel has a new owner, MHV Resorts and Hotels, and it has been relaunched as the new Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel.

While the MHV name may not be familiar to you, one of its holdings might: Pussers, which MHV President Mark Vanterpool purchased back in 2021.

Amenities include a spa, a fitness center, conference rooms, a pool and an on-site restaurant.

The latter is the biggest question fans have — the fate of Quito’s Gazebo, the hotel’s beloved restaurant.

The idea is to reopen the old eatery next month under a new name: Rhythm & Sands, which will “continue the legacy” of the old Quito’s, according to new owner Mark Vanterpool.

As for the hotel, it will also be reopening soon, combining “luxury with a relaxed beach atmosphere,” Vanterpool said in a statement obtained by Caribbean Journal.

Tortola is not a very active hotel market, with new hotel openings exceedingly rare. The “new” Cane Garden Bay Beach Hotel is the firs major new addition in Tortola since the rebranding of the Long Bay Beach Club in 2021.

The hope is that the new hotel will provide new energy for a popular, legendary stretch of beach (one we have called the must-visit beach town in Tortola), one that we’ve always considered one of the best beaches in the British Virgin Islands.

Pricing details are not yet available.
