Sun Country Is Adding a New Nonstop Route to Punta Cana
Sun Country Airlines is adding a new nonstop route to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic this winter, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The Minneapolis-based carrier will be adding new seasonal service between Milwaukee and Punta Cana for the winter season.
It’s part of a broader Caribbean expansion for the airline, which is also increasing frequency to destinations like Grand Cayman, Aruba and Roatan beginning in December.
“These are the places our customers love to visit with flights on more days of the week through the season. We’re building on what works well for us and our travelers,” said Grant Whitney, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Sun Country, in a statement obtained by Caribbean Journal.
The airline will be serving a total of nine Caribbean destinations out of Minneapolis alone this winter.
In recent years, the Midwest has become an increasingly important source market for Caribbean travel, particularly cities like Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Detroit.
