“Significant Contributions” to St Kitts Tourism
St Kitts is celebrating the “successful tenure” of outgoing CEO Ellison “Tommy” Thompson, who helped spearhead a dramatic recovery for the island in the post-pandemic period.
Thompson played what the St Kitts Tourism Authority called an “integral role” in increasing airlift and accessibility, including helping to secure the first-ever year-round nonstop flight on JetBlue from New York.
That came along with expanded airlift on carriers like United, Caribbean Airlines, Air Canada and American Airlines, among others.
“The Board of Directors extends its profound appreciation and gratitude to Mr. Thompson for his strategic vision and unwavering commitment to advancing the tourism sector of St. Kitts,” said Mrs. Ermelin Sebastian-Duggins, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Thompson’s leadership has truly enhanced the recognition of St. Kitts as a premier Caribbean destination.”
Thompson also helmed the destination’s new branding campaign, “Venture Deeper,” which accentuated the island’s eco-tourism and sustainability offerings.
“It has been an honour and a privilege to bring St. Kitts out of COVID protocols to a full recovery,” said Ellison “Tommy” Thompson, “The island of St. Kitts is a special place with such a vibrant community, and I am confident that the future holds even greater success for this incredible destination.”
Thompson is succeeded by incoming CEO Anne Kelly Fontenelle-Clarke, who officially took over on July 1.
