Delta Is Adding a New Route and More Flights to Turks and Caicos

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 26, 2024

With travelers continuing to flock to Turks and Caicos’ beach resorts and luxury villas, it’s not a shock to see airlines responding to the demand.

That includes a major expansion to Turks and Caicos by Delta Air Lines, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Beginning in December, Delta is adding a new nonstop flight between Detroit and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, with flights launching on Dec. 21. The new Detroit flight, the only one between Detroit and Turks and Caicos, will start up on Dec. 21, a spokesperson for Delta told Caribbean Journal.

But that’s not all.

Delta is also nearly doubling its flights between Atlanta and Turks and Caicos for the upcoming holiday season. Beginning in December, Delta will be flying a total of 14 flights each week between Hartsfield-Jackson Intenational Airport and Provo — an increase of six flights each week.

Delta, like its major US competitors, clearly has its sights set on a big winter for the Caribbean, with plans for another 5 percent jump in seats to the Latin America-Caribbean region for the holiday season.

While the archipelago’s most popular stop is clearly Providenciales, with its renowned beach resorts like the Shore Club, The Regent Grand, The Palms and The Sands, travelers are increasingly finding the so-called “Sister Islands” on their radar.

That includes rugged, beach-filled, naturally beautiful islands like North Caicos, Middle Caicos and South Caicos, where you can find small, boutique-style resorts like Dragon Cay (the lovely villa resort in Middle Caicos) and the warm, family-run Pelican Beach Hotel in North Caicos, among others.
