Frontier Airlines Is Adding Puerto Rico-Dominican Republic Flights
Continuing its Caribbean expansion out of San Juan, ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is set to debut a new route between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
The new route, which kicks off June 14, will connect San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport with Cibao Airport in Santiago.
The flights will be operating three times per week, according to the carrier.
“From the beautiful white sand beaches to the country’s vibrant culture and traditions, there are countless reasons to visit the Dominican Republic,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network design and operations for Frontier Airlines in a statement provided to Caribbean Journal. “Frontier is proud to expand service to and from the D.R. to support the country’s vital tourism industry and make it easy and affordable for Dominicans to travel to Puerto Rico and beyond.”
It’s the latest in a growing number of intra-regional flights Frontier is now operating in the Caribbean. That includes service from San Juan to destinations including Cancun, St Maarten and, most recently, St Croix in the US Virgin Islands.
That comes after Frontier recently debuted a new crew base in San Juan to solidify its position at the heavily-trafficked airport.
