The Caribbean’s Newest Luxury Boutique Hotel Just Opened in Grand Cayman

By: Alexander Britell - April 14, 2024

Wellness, boutique luxury and eco-adventure are on the menu at Grand Cayman’s most exciting new boutique hotel in years, which just began welcoming its first guests.

The hotel is called Vida Cayman Islands, and it’s an intimate luxury hotel with just a dozen rooms, ranging from the luxury studio suite to the three-bedroom luxury penthouse suite.

Every room has either a kitchenette or full kitchen, and when you stay here breakfast is included every day, too. The rooms all have flat screen TVs and yoga mats and hand weights in the rooms, along with amenities like e-bikes and garden hammocks and free Wi-Fi.

There’s a lovely pool, a hot tub and a beach just steps away from the rooms.

The hotel is located at the very northwestern point of Grand Cayman, close to one of the island’s most famous eateries, the renowned Ristorante Pappagallo.

Vida has a major eco-adventure focus, and the hotel will facilitate just about everything you’re looking for: windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddling, eco-tours and beach walks in the island’s rugged Barkers National Park.

In a cool touch, the hotel offers access to one complimentary activity every day from its wellness schedule. That means guests can choose sunrise kiteboarding, farm-to-fork experiences, mangrove adventures and yoga, just to name a few.

The culinary program is anchored by the hotel’s signature restaurant, Chef Maureen Cubbon’s Nourish; that’s just the beginning, though, because you can enjoy farm-to-table experiences, cooking classes and you have the option of a private chef in your suite.

It’s a fresh, vibrant new edition to the Grand Cayman hotel landscape, one that will grow this year with the similarly imminent addition of the new Hotel Indigo, the first-ever in the Caribbean.

“It’s a gorgeous property,” said Mrs. Rosa Harris, director of the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism told Caribbean Journal. “It’s about very bespoke services, low-density and a low footprint. We’re excited about it.”
