Americans Heading to Punta Cana, Cancun for Spring Break This Year

Cancun and Punta Cana are the top Caribbean destinations as American travelers plan their spring break vacations this year, according to a new report from travel insurance company Allianz Partners. 

The company found that, among international destinations, Cancun and Punta Cana are the most popular Caribbean spots. 

Montego Bay, Nassau, Aruba and Turks and Caicos were the other Caribbean destinations in the top 10.

Allianz analyzed 3.4 million flight itineraries for Spring Break travel between five and eight days in length. The company reported that American travelers are spending 7.9 percent more on their trips this year, up to an average of $4681.

The data covered US travelers’ Spring Break plans for itineraries between Feb. 23 and April 15, 2024. 

“Americans are not only headed for warm-weather destinations, but are warming up their wallets in pursuit of unforgettable Spring Break experiences,” said Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA.
