By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 10, 2024

Marriott’s soon-to-open Salterra resort in Turks and Caicos has named its first general manager, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The resort, which will be part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, has named Melina Forla as its new GM.

Forta has been with developer JEM Worldwide since 2022; she has also spent significant time serving at the Westin resort in Grand Cayman.

In a statement, JEM Worldwide CEO Michael Tibbetts said Forta would “lead our efforts to create a unique sense of place and focus on sustainability that will define our exclusive destination in the Turks and Caicos Islands.”

The new Salterra will be a transformation of the former East Bay resort on the island of South Caicos.

The property is slated to open its doors in “early 2025,” according to JEM.

Salterra will be one of two Marriott-portfolio resorts in Turks and Caicos, along with the existing Ritz-Carlton, Turks and Caicos.
