By: Caribbean Journal Staff - December 18, 2023

Canadian leisure carrier WestJet has launched its first-ever flights to the Dutch Caribbean island of Bonaire.

The first flight from Toronto touched down this past week in a significant boost for the island out of the Canadian market.

“We looked forward with great excitement to the arrival of our guests from Canada, and  the much-anticipated day is finally here with the first WestJet flight landing on Bonaire,”  said Miles Mercera, CEO of Tourism Corporation Bonaire (TCB).

“Canada remains  one of our top 10 markets, and this historic new connection signifies a major step in  accommodating the increasing desire for tourism on our picturesque island.”

The new nonstop route is operating once each week, with service out of Toronto on Tuesdays; the return flight departs on Wednesdays.

Toronto-Bonaire service will be operating through April 24, 2024.
