American Airlines is planning a massive ramp-up of service to the islands The Bahamas this winter season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

American is set to expand flights to destinations across The Bahamas for the heart of the winter season, including more service to Eleuthera, Great Exuma, Abaco and Nassau.

That includes an expansion of Charlotte-North Eleuthera service to daily flights between Feb. 15 and April 3, 2024.

American is also expanding to daily flights between Charlotte and Georgetown, Great Exuma between Feb. 15 and April 3.

And in the same period, AA will be operating daily flights between Charlotte and Marsh Harbour in Abaco.

American will be operating the Eleuthera and Exuma flights on Bombardier CRJ 700 planes, while the Marsh Harbour service will be operated on Embraer E175 aircraft.

But it’s not just the Out Islands.

On Feb. 15, American Airlines will be expanding to daily service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport; that service will not be limited to the winter-spring season.

American says it is looking to “reinforce” its status as the largest airline between the US and the wider Caribbean region, and that’s precisely the plan.

It’s a significant boost for sought-after islands like Eleuthera, Exuma and Abaco, and only underscores the carrier’s already-broad network of flights to Nassau.
