Marriott’s Aloft brand has opened its newest hotel in the Caribbean Basin: the Aloft San Pedro Sula in Honduras.

It’s a major new brand for a Caribbean-coast country that is quietly seeing renewed tourism investment — including the highly-anticipated Kimpton Grand Roatan, which is slated to open later this summer

The newest Aloft has 122 rooms in a residential setting close to one of the biggest ports in the Caribbean Sea, along with attractions like the Merendon mountains, Yojoa Lake, and ancient Mayan ruins in Copan.

The new Aloft is the first in the Caribbean since the debut late last year of the Aloft Playa del Carmen on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

“We are very excited to be back in Honduras, a market that captivates with its history that can be traced back to its origins in the sugarcane fields, eventually evolving into a vibrant hub influenced by renowned banana companies. Paying homage to this rich heritage, the city of San Pedro Sula is adorned with vestiges and architectural influences that reflect its past,” said Brian King, President of Marriott International, Caribbean and Latin America.

The hotel has all of the signature Aloft amenities: the W XYZ bar, the Re:mix lounge, a social hub for locals and guests ,and a stunning rooftop lounge called Tactic.

There’s also a new addition for the brand: Depot Restaurant, a motorcycle-and-car-themed eatery showcasing Honduran and international cuisine.

There is also a 24-7 fitness center called Re:charge, along with a pool and lounge called Splash, along with a Camp Aloft kids’ program, and regularly live music, too.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests to Aloft San Pedro Sula, where they can embark on an extraordinary journey that combines history, natural beauty, and vibrant experiences,” said Caroline Bolduc, General Manager of Aloft San Pedro Sula. “With our unique location and exceptional amenities, we aim to provide unforgettable moments that exceed guest expectations.”

San Pedro Sula has been seeing continued airlift growth in recent years, as the country’s Caribbean coast continues to attract investment, both on the mainland and on coastal islands like Roatan.

The Aloft brand has seven hotels in the broader Caribbean, including in Cancun, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; San Juan and Ponce Puerto Rico, Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
