Colombian low-cost carrier Wingo has launched a new nonstop route between Cali, Colombia and Aruba.

The new flight, which kicked off last week, was first announced as a summer-season service. With already-strong demand, Wingo has aged to extend the flights all the way to the high season, however. Including December 2023 and January 2024.

Cali is Wingo’s third source city for the Aruba market, joining existing routes between Bogota and Aruba and Medellin and Aruba.

The new route adds approximately 1,500 seats, opening up more connectivity within Colombia and the broader South American market to Aruba.

“Wingo is an important and valuable partner for Aruba Airport, and we are very happy with this new, additional service out of Cali, Colombia,” said Joost Meijs, CEO of Aruba Airport. “Aviation plays a vital role in Aruba’s economy and Aruba Airport remains committed to continuously seek new opportunities to expand its network and provide travelers with diverse and exciting travel opportunities. The ongoing partnership with Wingo reflects the Airport’s commitment in the strengthening of air travel connections between Aruba and Colombia.”

Wingo’s commercial director, Jorge Jimenez, said the carrier would continue its expansion process to the Aruba market.

“We are very pleased to offer the possibility of being just two hours from one of the most attractive destinations in the Caribbean for the people of Cali, as well as one of the most attractive cities in Colombia for the Arubans,” he said.
