Kimpton is opening its highly-anticipated second resort in the Caribbean this summer, and the popular boutique resort brand has officially opened reservations.

You can now reserve a stay at the soon-to-open Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa, the first major branded resort on the island of Roatan of the Caribbean coast of Honduras.

The resort is slated to open later this summer, although the exact opening month has not yet been revealed, a spokesperson for the property told Caribbean Journal.

Amenities will include a beachside infinity pool, easy access to some of the region’s best snorkeling, a 24-7 fitness center, four different dining concepts and a wellness destination called the Kao Kamasa Spa.

So what about the culinary program, always the fulcrum of any Kimpton property?

The resort will be anchored by the Mediterranean-Caribbean fusion eatery called Alera; there will be an all-day eatery called Vos; a beach bar called Sea Cat focused on “toes in the sand with a taco in hand,” along with a beachfront eatery called The Drop Off featuring tiki cocktails and “creative Caribbean dishes.”

It will also include the Kimpton Kids program.

Parent company IHG has been quietly upping its luxury quotient in the Caribbean, with the Kimpton joined by the recently-debuted InterContinental in Dominica (the former Kempinski resort) and a pair of new luxury resorts on the way in Grenada: the new InterContinental Grenada and the new Six Senses. The latter will be the first-ever Six Senses in the Caribbean, set on Grenada’s spectacular La Sagesse Beach.
