Planet Hollywood Is Opening Its First Dominican Republic Resort

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 22, 2023

First there was Cancun, and then there was Costa Rica. And now Planet Hollywood is opening its first-ever resort in the Dominican Republic, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The Blue Diamond Resorts brand has announced that it will open the new Planet Hollywood Beach Resort in Puerto Plata late next year.

The all-inclusive resort will be part of the launch of the area’s new Punta Bergantin development.

“Following the success of our all-inclusive models in Cancun and Costa Rica, we are proud to continue taking this lifestyle iconic brand to new trendy destinations of high relevance in our property portfolio” said Jordi Pelfort, President of Hotels and Resorts of Sunwing Travel Group, the parent company of Blue Diamond Resorts. “A Planet Hollywood Beach Resort in Puerto Plata will add great value to Dominican tourism and will be perfectly aligned with the purpose of hotel, real estate, innovation and especially cinematographic development that this great project pursues.”

Punta Bergantin will offer a group of resorts, along with an 18-hole golf course, a residential development, shopping and a movie studio; the latter is something that Blue Diamond said was naturally “very well aligned” to the Planet Hollywood brand.

The new Planet Hollywood in the Dominican Republic will feature the signatures of the brand, from its ubiquitous Hollywood memorabilia to its PH Spa and PUMPED fitness center.

The company has not yet revealed the number of rooms for the Puerto Plata resort.

Planet Hollywood is part of a growing portfolio of brands in Blue Diamond’s collection, one that includes Royalton, Memories and Starfishr resorts, among others.

This will be the third Planet Hollywood in the Caribbean.
