Nevis Tourism Eyeing Strong 2022

By: Alexander Britell - April 27, 2022

Nevis is projecting a strong year of tourism arrivals, according to the island’s new tourism chief.

Devon Liburd, who took over as the CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority in February, said bookings from the end of last year for 2022 “look very positive.”

All of the island’s hotels “have come back in full force,” he told Caribbean Journal, with the exception of the Mount Nevis and Nisbet Plantation, both of which remain closed.

The island has a mix of historic inns and hotels and its flagship resort, the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.

“[Hotel rates] are higher than during Covid,” said Liburd, who was speaking during the Seatrade cruise conference in Miami Beach this week. “Things are looking great.”

On the cruise side, Liburd said he was looking to attract new cruise lines and cruise ships.

The island typically welcomes small-ship luxury cruise lines, dominated by SeaDream Yacht Club, which sends two ships to the island.

That’s along with strong excursion business from neighboring St Kitts’ Port Zante, he said.
