Spirit Airlines is launching its first-ever International service from Milwaukee, with planned flights to Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.
It’s the latest in what has been a rapid expansion push by Spirit to the Mexican tourism hotspot, which has seen tremendous airlift growth amid the pandemic.
Beginning Dec. 23, the low-cost carrier will be operating three weekly flights between Milwaukee and Cancun.
“We see a vibrant future full of new opportunities for travel here in the Badger State,” said John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning for Spirit Airlines. “We’re excited to nearly triple our convenient, nonstop flights to exciting destinations. We can’t wait to take more Milwaukee Guests to ‘sun and sand’ destinations and bring travelers from all over to enjoy Wisconsin’s great festivals, sports scene and fun outdoor activities.”
The carrier is also launching daily flights to Fort Lauderdale, which will help connect travelers in Milwaukee to the carrier’s broad Caribbean network out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
