There’s a new way to get to one of the Dominican Republic’s hottest destinations.

American Airlines has kicked off its first-ever service to Samana, with new weekly service out of Charlotte.

It’s a big addition for Samana, which has largely been popular with European and Canadian tourists in recent years.

The nonstop flight is operating twice each week, with service on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

American is operating the flights on Embraer 175 aircraft.

Samana is home to one of the Dominican Republic’s leading hotels, the Peninsula House, which is in the town of Las Terrenas.
