Colombian carrier Avianca is resuming its service from Bogota to San Juan, Puerto Rico this week, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The relaunched service will begin with two weekly flights, a number that is likely to increase over the summer and fall seasons as demand increases.

Indeed, in December, Avianca will operate one daily flight to San Juan, according to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

“Avianca is an important partner in our efforts to carry the message that we are ready to safely welcome our visitors and to keep the Island on the minds of thousands of potential travelers in Central and South America,” said Carlos Mercado, executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

Avianca will be operating the service on Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft with 120 and 150 passengers, respectively.

That will mean at least 7,440 seats through December.
