Seabourn Is Relaunching Cruises From Barbados

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 2, 2021 - 3:22 pm

Another cruise line is planning a restart from within the Caribbean, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Following a number of major cruise lines that have launched homeporting in the Caribbean with the CDC’s no-sail order still in effect in the United States, luxury cruises line Seabourn will be relaunching operations out of Barbados in July.

Beginning July 18, 2021, Seabourn will operate seven-day cruises from Barbados to the Southern Caribbean, with stops in ports including Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, St Maarten and St Kitts.

There’s also a 14-day option that combines two distinct seven-day itineraries.

This fall, Seabourn will adding more port calls, including stops in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Martinique and Guadeloupe.

“We are grateful to be working in concert with the Government of Barbados to restart tourism in Barbados and the Caribbean Sea,” said Josh Leibowitz, president of Seabourn. “The entire Seabourn family is energized to provide our award-winning service, dining and entertainment on board Seabourn Odyssey starting again this July.”

All cruises will be open only to guests that have been fully vaccinated — meaning a minimum of 14 days following the first (for single-shot vaccines) or second dose (for two-shot vaccines) of an approved vaccine.

“We look forward to welcoming Seabourn back to our shores and are pleased with the outlook for the restart of the cruise industry,” said Barbados Tourism Minister Lisa Cummins. “Safe travel is our priority, and placing vaccinations and other key public health travel protocols at the core of our cruise industry restart will not only restore traveler confidence, but also offer comfort to visitors and Barbadians alike.”
