The Cayman Islands has named a new Tourism Minister, following the British Overseas Territory’s recent elections.

New Premier Wayne Panton has assigned MP Kenneth Bryan to the role, which includes the portfolios of tourism and transport.

Bryan succeeds longtime Cayman Islands Tourism Minister Moses Kirkconnell in the role; Kirkconnell was among the region’s most respected Ministers of Tourism, helping the lead Cayman to record levels of tourism and related investment before the onset of the pandemic.

Panton succeeds former Premier Alden McLaughlin, who had served since May 2013.

The Cayman Islands remains closed for tourism; the destination has not yet announced a reopening date.
