Curaçao Seeing “Steady Increase” in Visitor Arrivals

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 4, 2020

The Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao is starting to see a “steady increase” in tourist arrivals since first reopening its tourism sector in July, according to data from the Curaçao Tourist Board.

The island received 8,195 stayover visitors in July and another 9,227 stayover visitors in August.

In September, Curaçao reported 10,418 stayover visitors, according to a compilation by the Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association.

Much of that growth came without the U.S. market, to which the island began opening last month, allowing travelers from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and, most recently, Florida

“Stayover arrivals for the past three months has been recovering steadily, despite only being open to a limited number of countries in Europe. Curaçao continues to be a favorite destination from our main market region. Our goal is to gradually open to more markets in the coming months,” said Paul Pennicook, CEO of the CTB.
