The island of St Eustatius, popularly known as Statia, is getting its first-ever luxury resort, Caribbean Journal has learned.
The new Golden Rock Resort is slated to debut on the Dutch Caribbean island in March 2021, according to the property.
The “contemporary, five-star luxury resort” will be set in the southeast of Statia near the island’ signature “Quill,” the dormant volcano that’s one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after hiking spots.
The Golden Rock will feature 32 suites, with amenities including a restaurant called Breeze; a spa, a pool, a gym and Wi-Fi across the property.
The introduction of the hip, crisply-designed resort is a significant boost for the island, which has long had a relatively tiny hotel stock focused around the charming Old Gin House boutique hotel.
Statia is a 20-minute flight from St Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport.
