A Different Kind of All-Inclusive Resort Just Made Its Debut in Cancun
Cancun’s Hotel Zone didn’t develop with luxury resorts in mind. Decades ago, the focus was on quantity and entertainment, massive resorts and, well, Spring Break-style excess.
Fast forward to the current age and Cancun is a very different concept. Today, it’s a top family-friendly destination, with everyone from Marriott to Hilton getting into the Cancun resort space.
The newest trend in the Mexican Caribbean’s tourism capital? Luxury, with more and more operators starting to introduce an elevated concept to the area, most notably Kempinski, which took over the former Ritz-Carlton in Cancun at the end of 2022.
Now, there’s another luxury option in Cancun — and it has a dual personality: the option of going EP or all-inclusive, however you choose.
TAFER Hotels’ Mousai brand, best known for its all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta on the country’s Pacific coast, just opened the doors on a new luxury concept in Cancun: the Hotel Mousai Cancun.
So what do you need to know about the new resort, which set in the burgeoning hotspot of Costa Mujeres called the “New Cancun?”
It’s a boutique-style all-inclusive: just 88 rooms, all with their own balconies with private outdoor hot tubs; you’ll find a trio of pools, a spa, a fitness center and several different eateries and lounges from a rooftop hotspot to Chinese and Italian restaurants.
The coolest part? A sparkling rooftop bar and eatery, with its own ocean-view pool, a selection of tapas-style shareable bites sand crafted cocktails. It’s open for lunch and drinks until the sunset hour.
What about the cost?
A sample booking with a stay beginning next week has a listed rate of $522 for an EP plan; if you want an all-inclusive vacation, that will run $715 per night, according to the hotel’s Web site.
If you stay here, you also get access to TAFER’s two other resorts in Cancun: the Garza Blanca and the Villa del Palmar.
We also just learned that the Hotel Mousai Cancun is now a part of Preferred Hotels and Resorts’ LVX sub-brand, an addition that became official this week.
