This Belize Hotel Just Rebranded

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 19, 2019 - 11:27 am

The Belize Ocean Club hotel has officially rebranded, the company said this week.

The Placencia-area boutique hotel has relaunched with a new name: Umaya Resort and Adventures.

“The new Umaya experience offers what our guests are looking for in Belize – a sense of place and connection to the local community, its history and amazing raw, untouched beauty,” says Robert Van Eerde, CEO of STEM, which manages the property.

The rebranding is coming with a series of new investments in the property, including the addition of local Mayan artwork; the restyling of several hotel suites; the addition of a new organic garden and dining options and new “Mayan-influenced” programming.

The hotel is also developing a new dive center, STEM said.

The first of the new dining options will include “The Clubhouse,” a farm-to-table eatery featuring cuisine “rooted in Mayan and Garifuna Belizean traditions.”

The 60-room hotel is set on Maya Beach on the 18-mile-long peninsula of Placencia in Southern Belize.
