Radisson Hotel Group has named a new chief operating officer for the Americas region, including the Caribbean.

The Minneapolis-based company has tapped Aly El-Bassuni for the newly-created position, in which he will be responsible for “driving operational strategies across the Americas for Radisson Hotel Group’s franchised and managed hotels.”

El-Bassuni, who will be reporting to Radisson’s president for the Americas, Ken Greene, had previously served as Radisson’s senior vice president for franchise operations for the Americas at Radisson.

“Aly’s vast experience in the hospitality industry sets an ideal foundation for him to drive synergies and collaboration across both our franchised and managed operations,” Greene said in a statement. “In this new role, his team will help position our Americas portfolio for long-term success as they achieve the goals outlined in our five-year plan initiatives, while building meaningful relationships with our owners and partners.”

Radisson is growing its portfolio in the Caribbean region, most recently with the announcement of its plans to return to the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba with the new Radisson Blu Aruba.

Radisson’s Caribbean portfolio includes hotels in Grenada, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados.
