There’s another new W in the wider Caribbean region, thanks to the debut this week of the W Costa Rica Reserva Conchal.

The first-ever W in Costa Rica is set in a 2,300-acre nature reserve near the surf town of Tamarindo.

The property, designed by Mister Important Design and the in-house team at W and Ronald Zurcher Architects, has 150 rooms, each with locally-inspired decor from mini surf boards to Guaitil handcrafted pottery.

In a first for the brand, each room has its own in-room draft beer tap serving up local beer, with each in-room bar extending to an outdoor patio.

Other room categories include Tree House suites, which are set in the mangroves.

The W signatures remain, from the Living Room lobby bar to a WET Deck Bar.

And then there’s the AWAY Spa, which includes the first-ever full-service bar inside a W spa.

Eateries include the Latitud 10 Norte Asian fusion restaurant and the Cocina de Mercado grab-and-go spot.

“The land of ‘pura vida’ is where the playful spirit of the W brand was born to run free,” said Anthony Ingham, Global Brand Leader at W Hotels Worldwide. “The people, the culture and the beauty of this country all meet to create a paradise unlike any other, and W Costa Rica will celebrate it all. The hotel is our latest W Escape, W’s platform for hotels that redefine the resort experience for the modern traveler looking for a holiday rooted in unexpected experiences and local sizzle.”
