Spirit Begins New Daily Puerto Rico Route

Spirit Airlines has officially begun operating its newest route to Puerto Rico.

The carrier this week launched its new daily flights from Orlando to the Puerto Rican city of Aguadilla.

The daily service is a boon for destinations in northwestern Puerto Rico that have typically been underserved by major carriers.

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company estimates that the new service, which will bring 52,925 seats to the destination, will contribute approximately $6.6 million to the local economy.

“We thank Spirit Airlines for continuing to expand its operations in Puerto Rico, which represents great news that positively impacts the municipalities of the Northwest region,” said Carla Campos, the acting director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.

The flights are being operated on Airbus A319 aircraft.
